Bio: Character actor Timothy J. Cox's acting career began as an excuse to get out of Math class.When the young actor was in the 8th grade in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, he auditioned and won the lead role in the school play, a musical version of the O'Henry story 'The Gift of the Magi' titled 'Rags to Riches'. Initially, he auditioned just to get out of class, as auditions and rehearsals were to take place during the school day. To his surprise, he was cast in the lead role and loved it.He began studying acting in high school and performed in numerous productions including 'It's A Wonderful Life', 'A Christmas Carol' and the musicals 'Bye, Bye Birdie' and 'Carousel'. It was also in high school where Tim saw two performances that made him want to make acting his life's work, Jack Lemmon in 'Days of Wine and Roses' and Donald Sutherland in 'Ordinary People'. Both performances, especially Lemmon's had a profound effect on the young actor.Tim continued his acting studies at Marietta College and appeared in numerous plays, many of them classical works, by playwrights like Shakespeare, Moliere, Feydeau and Sophocles. It was during this period that Tim started playing character roles, which he felt were richer and more interesting to play. He came to the realization that the only way he was going to have any success was as a character actor, inspired by legends like Charles Durning, Robert Loggia, Rip Torn, Kathy Bates and many more. He's been a character actor ever since.After graduating from college in 1999, he worked a series of odd jobs in his hometown of Delaware and found time to appear in a few theatre productions, including 'I Remember Mama,' 'The Taming of the Shrew,' and as the title character in 'The Playboy of the Western World.'In 2001 he moved to New York City to pursue acting full-time and hasn't stopped working since; appearing in over 30 theatrical productions, including more classics like 'Hamlet', 'Measure for Measure', 'Love's Labour's Lost', 'Much Ado About Nothing'); modern classics like 'Arsenic and Old Lace', 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile' and 'Six Degrees of Separation', plus numerous original works by today's up and coming playwrights like Tom O'Neil and Anthony P. Pennino.In addition to his extensive stage resume, Tim has also appeared in numerous films, including 'Why I Fired My Secretary' (HRM Productions), 'Yeah, Love (Finding Emma Productions), 'Blind Thoughts" (Unrated Entertainment) and many more. Tim also appears in the soon to be released pilot 'Overcrowded' from All Things Random Productions.
